Klondike Derby

GET READY FOR THE KLONDIKE DERBY!

Troop 59 is headed to the Klondike Derby, it's been a long time since we've been there and it is a great time.  Kind of like the Trophy Challenge but with snow, so make sure you come.  Don't forget to dress warm!

Here are some details on the Klondike Derby this month.

01/24/2014 - 01/25/2014
We will leave CSMC at 5:30 pm.

COST=$25/Person (Adults also)

Location:
Waterloo Harbor Campground
1314 Waterloo Geneva Rd.
Waterloo NY 13165

ALL SCOUTS AND ADULTS REQUIRE MEDICAL FORMS PARTS A&B.  (see the email sent for the forms)
If your forms are not current I will be sending you a separate email with blank forms attached.

ALL SCOUTS WHO WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN BIATHALON WILL REQUIRE A PERMISSION TO SHOOT FORM. (see the email sent for the forms)

Friday evening camping includes a bon fire and cracker barrel. Saturday includes events designed to test scout skills from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday.  Events include lunch which is included with the event cost. Closing Ceremonies and awards are from 2-3pm, then we will return to CSMC by 4:30pm
Attached is a schedule of events.  If you are interested please sign up at next week’s meeting or contact me and I will add you to the list. DEADLINE FOR SIGNUP IS TUESDAY JANUARY 7TH.

At this point we need  one more boys for two sleds, if we get more we can enter a third.  This is a contest, similar to Trophy Challenge- each sled will be its own Patrol.

I hope to see some more Scouts (and adults) sign up for this one. I know it sounds cold but we have been on Spring campouts that were colder than it is today!  It is a lot of fun- I did it myself when I was a Scout and it was a great experience and a lasting memory!

ELECTRONICS LOCK-IN

Coming up in a little over a week, A scout favorite.......
The ELECTRONICS LOCK-IN!!!!! on Friday January 10th.

The only time that electronics are encouraged during a scout event.  Not only is there Electronics but scouts can bring board games, go sledding (if there is snow) and don't forget about the homemade pizzas!

Please sign up for the Lock-In at the next meeting January 7th, so we know how much supplies to buy for the pizzas.

Here's the details from the Scoutmaster:

January 10th is Electronics Lock-In. 6:30pm- 8am Saturday morning.  Scouts must be picked up by 8am! If you can’t then please make other arrangements.
Info on Electronics Lock-In for those who are new:

Scouts may bring video games, laptops, Nintendo’s, etc. to play-  they may also bring sleds for use on Hospital Hill if they want. We will provide makings for make-your-own-pizzas.  Scouts may bring snacks and beverages.

Scouts will provide their own game consoles and equipment. THE TROOP IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES TO PERSONAL ELECTRONICS.
There are a few monitors available at the church but they are older and don’t always work on new console games- so if you have one to bring please do so AT YOUR ON RISK.  That being said- I don’t think we have ever had a problem with lost or damaged equipment- nonetheless, we assume no responsibility for it.

There is no curfew- Scouts may stay up playing games all night (and often do), either way- they will be expected to start cleaning up at 7am and be ready for pickup by 8am.  Breakfast will NOT be provided.

As always, adults are invited and encouraged to come stay up all night with me if they wish…
